About Tanuja Biswas

Tanuja holds an M.Sc in Psychology (2020) from the Indian Institute of Psychology and Research, and a B.Sc in Psychology (2018) from Adamas University, West Bengal. In addition to her formal education, she is also a certified Clinical Hypnotherapist (2018), having successfully completed her Diploma in Clinical Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy from YourDOST Academy. This program is endorsed by the Indian Association of Clinical and Academic Hypnosis (IACAH), a respected constituent of the Asian Society of Hypnosis & Hypnotherapy.

Having consulted with clients for over 1000+ hours in therapy, Tanuja brings over three years of experience to her practice. Her expertise lies in working with both adolescents and adults, addressing a wide range of mental health concerns.

Previously, Tanuja held a significant role at The Unopened Box, Bangalore, where she worked as a full-time counselling psychologist and catered to a diverse clientele, including NRI and pan-India clients. In addition to her counselling responsibilities, she was also passionate about L&D to create impactful content for her clients on Mental Health and Wellness. Apart from working with urban clientele, in alignment with her dedication to making mental health services accessible to all, her experience extends to working with children with special needs and adolescents from underserved communities. She has also volunteered as an active listener at Listening Inn and has contributed her expertise to government projects on a part-time basis.

At Untangle, Tanuja offers in-person and online therapy services to clients with diverse concerns, including anxiety, depression, loneliness, adjustment difficulties, crisis management, relationship issues, stress management, anger management, procrastination, grief and loss, self-esteem and self-confidence issues, sexuality and sexual wellness, attachment and abandonment issues, childhood trauma, sexual trauma, PTSD, emotional regulation and management. As a person-centered therapist, she prioritizes non-directive therapy sessions while customizing her approach to meet each client’s unique needs and goals. She draws from eclectic methods rooted in humanistic and existential schools of thought, always mindful of working from a trauma-informed and intersectional perspective. Tanuja is queer-affirmative and continuously invests in her professional development by enrolling in various courses to enhance her skills and knowledge.

Creating a safe and inclusive space for her clients is at the forefront of Tanuja’s practice. She recognizes the vital role that safety plays in the therapeutic relationship and strives to foster an environment of trust and understanding in the field of mental health.
